census of 2000, there are 1,034 people, 425 households, and 295 families residing in the city. The population density is 753.3/km² (1,949.7/mi²). There are 458 housing units at an average density of 333.7/km² (863.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.00% White, 0.87% African American, 2.32% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 2.22% from two or more races. 1.26% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 425 households out of which 40.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.9% are married couples living together, 16.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.4% are non-families. 26.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.43 and the average family size is 2.91. In the city the population is spread out with 29.9% under the age of 18, 11.9% from 18 to 24, 32.3% from 25 to 44, 17.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 79.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 78.1 males.
