Doug Bereuter

Doug Bereuter (born October 6 1939), American politician, has been a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives since 1979, representing the First District of Nebraska. Born in York, Nebraska, he served as an infantry and intelligence officer before attending the University of Nebraska and Harvard University. He served in the Nebraska Legislature from 1974 to 1978, when he was elected to the House. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the Financial Services Committee, Committee on International Relations, the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Select Committee on Intelligence. He is also Chairman of the U.S. House Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
