Diao Chan

Diao Chan (貂蟬) was one of the Four Beauties of ancient China. Unlike the other three beauties, she never appears in any historical writings and is possibly simply a fictional character.

Diao Chan appears in Romance of the Three Kingdoms by the Ming dynasty author Luo Guanzhong, in which she assists a plot by the official Wang Yun to persuade the warrior Lü Bu to kill the tyrant Dong Zhuo. She does this by becoming Dong Zhou's concubine but also Lu Bu's betrothed, then manipulating the two through their jealousy. Lu Bu later went on to marry Diao Chan.

According to history writing, Lü Bu did have a relation with a maid of Dong Zhuo but there was virtually nothing recorded about that concubine of Dong Zhuo.
