Defense of property
The 
defense of property is a possible 
justification for breaking the 
law. Defendants who use this 
defense are arguing that they should not be held 
liable for a 
crime, since the 
actionss taken were intended to protect the defendant's 
property. 
Courts have generally ruled that "deadly force" is not acceptable in defending property, although it may be acceptable in 
self-defense. As deadly force is not allowed, the setting of booby-traps is also not allowed.
