Dardania

An earlier name for the city of Troy, named after the Greek mythical hero, Dardanus, who founded the city.

Dardania was a region near the river Morava in modern-day Serbia. Its native people, the Dardanians, were a tribe of mixed Illyrians and Thracians. The area was conquered by the Romans in 28 BC and became part of the Roman province of Moesia (Superior), on the border with Illyricum.
