Daqin Pagoda

Daqin (大秦塔) is a Nestorian pagoda built about 640 AD by early Christians who came to Chang'an (now Xi'an) over the Silk Road. Daqin means the Roman Empire in Chinese language of the time.

The temple still exists and is located on the grounds of Louguan temple, about 50 miles southwest of Xi'an. It has a decided lean due to the severe Shaanxi earthquake in 1556. Daqin was "rediscovered" in 1998 and its roots in early Chinese Christianity were recognized.
