\nCreek County is a county located in the U.S. State of Oklahoma. As of 2000, the population is 67,367. Its county seat is Sapulpa⁶.

Geography

\nAccording to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,512 km² (970 mi²). 2,475 km² (956 mi²) of it is land and 37 km² (14 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.47% water.

Demographics

\nAs of the census² of 2000, there are 67,367 people, 25,289 households, and 19,017 families residing in the county. The population density is 27/km² (70/mi²). There are 27,986 housing units at an average density of 11/km² (29/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 82.27% White, 2.56% Black or African American, 9.08% Native American, 0.27% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.63% from other races, and 5.16% from two or more races. 1.90% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 25,289 households out of which 34.80% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.10% are married couples living together, 10.90% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.80% are non-families. 21.60% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.64 and the average family size is 3.06. In the county, the population is spread out with 27.40% under the age of 18, 8.00% from 18 to 24, 27.30% from 25 to 44, 24.50% from 45 to 64, and 12.80% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 96.00 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.90 males. The median income for a household in the county is $33,168, and the median income for a family is $38,470. Males have a median income of $31,190 versus $21,690 for females. The per capita income for the county is $16,191. 13.50% of the population and 10.80% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 17.20% are under the age of 18 and 14.10% are 65 or older.
