Corte Madera is a town located in Marin County, California. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 9,100.

1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 11.4 km² (4.4 mi²). 8.2 km² (3.2 mi²) of it is land and 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 28.12% water.


\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 9,100 people, 3,776 households, and 2,473 families residing in the town. The population density is 1,108.4/km² (2,873.3/mi²). There are 3,850 housing units at an average density of 468.9/km² (1,215.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 87.66% White, 0.88% African American, 0.32% Native American, 6.08% Asian, 0.19% Pacific Islander, 1.30% from other races, and 3.58% from two or more races. 4.79% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 3,776 households out of which 32.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.1% are married couples living together, 10.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% are non-families. 24.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.89. In the town the population is spread out with 23.4% under the age of 18, 3.5% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 28.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 88.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.9 males.
