census of 2000, there are 9,652 people, 2,880 households, and 2,246 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,971.8/km² (5,095.9/mi²). There are 3,003 housing units at an average density of 613.5/km² (1,585.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 68.61% White, 0.76% African American, 1.24% Native American, 1.04% Asian, 0.28% Pacific Islander, 24.32% from other races, and 3.76% from two or more races. 37.39% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 2,880 households out of which 45.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.8% are married couples living together, 10.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.0% are non-families. 15.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.31 and the average family size is 3.64. In the city the population is spread out with 32.5% under the age of 18, 11.0% from 18 to 24, 33.6% from 25 to 44, 16.9% from 45 to 64, and 6.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29 years. For every 100 females there are 108.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 107.0 males. The median income for a household in the city is $45,959, and the median income for a family is $49,456. Males have a median income of $32,164 versus $25,207 for females.
