Cokato is a city located in Wright County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,727.

United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²). 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 2,727 people, 990 households, and 663 families residing in the city. The population density is 822.6/km² (2,125.8/mi²). There are 1,035 housing units at an average density of 312.2/km² (806.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 96.81% White, 0.15% African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.44% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.25% from other races, and 1.06% from two or more races. 2.68% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 990 households out of which 36.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.1% are married couples living together, 11.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% are non-families. 29.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.66 and the average family size is 3.33. In the city the population is spread out with 31.8% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 16.9% from 45 to 64, and 17.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 91.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.3 males.
