Clinton County, Indiana

\nClinton County is a county located in the U.S. State of Indiana. As of 2000, the population is 33,866. Its name is in honor of the seventh Governor of New York State, DeWitt Clinton. The county's county seat is Frankfort, Indiana6.

\nAccording to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,050 km² (405 mi²). 1,049 km² (405 mi²) of it is land and 0 km² (0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.04% water.

census2 of 2000, there are 33,866 people, 12,545 households, and 9,057 families residing in the county. The population density is 32/km² (84/mi²). There are 13,267 housing units at an average density of 13/km² (33/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 94.38% White, 0.30% Black or African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 4.18% from other races, and 0.77% from two or more races. 7.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 12,545 households out of which 35.20% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.90% are married couples living together, 9.00% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.80% are non-families. 23.60% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.10% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.63 and the average family size is 3.10. In the county the population is spread out with 27.30% under the age of 18, 8.80% from 18 to 24, 28.40% from 25 to 44, 21.10% from 45 to 64, and 14.40% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 97.30 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.40 males. The median income for a household in the county is $40,759, and the median income for a family is $48,864. Males have a median income of $36,385 versus $24,378 for females. The per capita income for the county is $17,862. 8.60% of the population and 6.30% of families are below the poverty line.
