6 yams 1/2 cup margarine 1 cup brown sugar 2 tbs. vanilla extract 1/4 cup water
Preheat oven to 350°. Boil yams in skins until about half done. Drain water from yams, remove skins, & cut in lengthwise slices. Place slices in a greased baking dish & dot with margarine. Make a syrup by boiling together brown sugar, water, & vanilla. Pour over the slices. Bake 45-50 minutes, basting frequently with syrup. Cook until yams are transparent.
