BST is a
bovine growth horomone, produced by
Monsanto, used to increase a
cow's milk output. BST has been criticized for allegedly causing infections in the cattle and increasing the risks of
cancer amongst
humans who drink the milk. The
US FDA does not require the labelling of products which include BST.
Canadian Health Minister Margaret Hayden alleges that, in
1994, Monsanto offered her bureau
$11-2,000,000, to induce them to support BST; Monsanto denies the claims
(1 -- p.100).
