Bombay Natural History Society
The Bombay Natural History Society
is the largest organisation engaged in conservation research
in the Indian subcontinent
. Founded on September 15
, this organisation is dedicated to promoting conservation through scientific
study. Its headquarters are in the specially constructed Hornbill House
is Southern Mumbai
. It is commonly known by its acronym, BNHS.
While the BNHS acts primarily as a society of wildlife enthusiasts in Mumbai, it is also involved in sponsoring studies in Indian wildlife and conservation. It publishes a four-monthly journal, entitled The Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society, as well as a quarterly magazine, Hornbill.
The BNHS' logo is a hornbill (giving rise to its magazine's name).
