Atlantic City (movie)

Atlantic City is a 1981 film which tells the story of a Canadian woman whose dreams for a better life in the gambling business is interrupted by the return of the husband she had left behind. It stars Burt Lancaster, Susan Sarandon, Kate Reid, Michel Piccoli and Hollis McLaren.

The movie was written by John Guare, and directed by Louis Malle.

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Burt Lancaster), Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Director, Best Picture and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen. In 2003 the United States Library of Congress deemed the film "culturally significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.
