Ateneo de Manila University

Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) is one of the leading universities in the Philippines. It is located in Loyola Heights, Quezon City in Metro Manila. It is a Catholic university founded by the Spanish priests of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1859.

Campus

The Ateneo has two major campuses. The main one is located in Loyola Heights in Quezon City. This campus is where most of the students of the Ateneo, from elementary to the graduate level. Ateneo also has another campus located in Makati City and this is where the Ateneo Law School is found.

Loyola Campus

The Loyola campus occupies some 125 hectares of land and overlooks the Marikina Valley. It is located along Katipunan Avenue and is adjacent to Miriam College to the north. One kilometer further north is the University of the Philippines, Diliman.

Among the many buildings in the campus is the imposing Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym. This is one of the largest gymnasiums among the universities in Metro Manila.

The majestic Church of the Gesu, completed in July 2002, overlooks the campus.

The university has two on-campus dormitories: Cervini Hall and Eliazo Hall. Conveniently located on the highest point in the campus, Cervini can accomidate 204 male students while Eliazo can house 164 female students.

Makati Campus

The Ateneo Law School is located within the Rockwell compound in northern Makati City.

Organization

Ateneo de Manila University is one of the many universities founded by the Jesuits all over the Philippines. Almost all of them are also named Ateneo. This particular university is divided into four schools, plus some other divisions.

Professional Schools

The Professional Schools are the graduate-level division of Ateneo de Manila. The most well-known of the schools is the Ateneo School of Law.

Loyola Schools

The Loyola Schools are the tertiary undergraduate-level division.

High School

The Ateneo de Manila High School is an all-boys institution unlike the Loyola Schools which are co-educational.

Ateneo Cervini-Eliazo Network Team

Ateneo Cervini-Eliazo Network Team (ACENT) is a dormitory service committee of the in-campus dormitories of the Ateneo de Manila University. It services Cervini Hall and Eliazo Hall, and is responsible for maintaining their entire information technology infrastructure.

Cervini-Eliazo Residence Halls is the first in-house college dormitory to have structured cabling and internet access, and a structured maintenance organization. ACENT was founded on December 1998 by a group of dormers namely William Emmanuel S. Yu, Jess Emerson Uy, Nowd Cheng-Chua and Mark Soriano under the auspices of Dorm Director Tim Gabuna. Construction for the new dormitory network infrastructure started on June 1999 and was completed on August 1999. Official ACENT internet services started on August 1999.
