Arnold O. Beckman

Arnold Orville Beckman (born April 10, 1900) is an American chemist. He is most acclaimed as the inventor of the pH meter, which measures the pH, or relative acidity, of a substance. He also founded Beckman Instruments in the mid 1920s.

He also renowned as a businessman and philanthropist. To date, he has given nearly 170 million dollars to various charities and oragnizations.
