Apple Backup

Apple Backup is a simple software program made by Apple Computer that runs only in Mac OS X for file backups included in Apple's .Mac collection of Internet services. Backup can be used in connection with either a user's .Mac iDisk or the Macintosh's CD-RW or DVD-R drive to make safe, archival copies of critical files and folders.

The initial versions of Backup were regarded as feature-sparse and frequently unstable. However, by late-2003 Apple had rolled out several bug fixes and a beta of Backup 2.0, which promised to be far more reliable than its predecessors.

Though both allow for the creation of archive copies of important data, Backup is seen as not being feature-rich enough to compete with full-fledged backup programs such as Retrospect by Dantz
