André Campra

André Campra (1660 - 1744) was a French composer and conductor.

He was conductor at the cathedrals at Toulon and Arles before becoming conductor at the Notre-Dame de Paris. He resigned to become a full-time composer and wrote more than 20 operas, including L'Europe Galante, Le Carnaval de Venise, Idomenee and Rigaudon, and numerous cantatas, and motets.
