American Fork is a city located in Utah County, Utah. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 21,941.

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 21,941 people, 5,934 households, and 5,109 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,123.5/km² (2,910.7/mi²). There are 6,108 housing units at an average density of 312.8/km² (810.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.24% White, 0.16% African American, 0.42% Native American, 0.65% Asian, 0.24% Pacific Islander, 1.93% from other races, and 1.36% from two or more races. 4.61% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 5,934 households out of which 54.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.2% are married couples living together, 8.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 13.9% are non-families. 11.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.64 and the average family size is 3.98. In the city the population is spread out with 38.3% under the age of 18, 11.9% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 14.4% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 25 years. For every 100 females there are 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.0 males. The median income for a household in the city is $51,955, and the median income for a family is $55,118. Males have a median income of $41,682 versus $24,073 for females. The per capita income for the city is $16,293. 4.0% of the population and 3.2% of families are below the poverty line.
