census of 2000, there are 1,839 people, 759 households, and 563 families residing in the town. The population density is 41.3/km² (107.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 99.18% White, 0.33% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.49% from two or more races. 0.16% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 759 households out of which 29.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.3% are married couples living together, 8.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.8% are non-families. 23.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.42 and the average family size is 2.85.
