The Akan language group
belongs to the Kwa language
family. It is spoken in Ghana
, and is made up of a group of similar languages which are mutually intelligible. The languages include Ashanti, Fante, Akuapem, Akyem, Twi
and Kwahu, and have ties to tribal groups.
